# Our History

## 🐉 The History of Dragon Shield

Hi everyone!\
I'm **Marti**, the owner and founder of **Dragon Shield**.\
In this section, I’ll take you through the **history of how we started**, our **humble beginnings**, and the **different eras** of the server throughout the years.

### 🌱 The Beginning (2019)

After returning to Minecraft in **2019**, I decided to create a **modded survival / MMORPG** server.

With that idea in mind, I began brainstorming names, and the first one that came to me was **Dragon Shield**.

During that year, the server grew into a **strong and welcoming community**.\
We had a **daily active player base of around 30–40 members**, which was amazing for a small project like ours.\
Even though we didn’t have much, we had **each other**, and that made the community special.

### 💀 The Shutdown (2020)

As **2020** began, things took an unexpected turn.\
I caught **COVID-19**, which later developed into **pneumonia**.\
I was **hospitalized seriously**, and unfortunately, the server had to **shut down** soon after.

### 🔥 The Attempted Revival (2022)

Two years later, in **2022**, I tried to **bring Dragon Shield back**.\
Things were going well for about **three months**, but then I got hit by **COVID-19 (Delta strain)**.

Once again, I was **hospitalized**, and my plans to fully relaunch the server were **cut short**.

### ⚔️ The Comeback (Late 2023 – 2024)

In **November 2023**, we began **developing the current version** of Dragon Shield.\
We kept things quiet at first with **no active advertising**, just pure development and testing.

Then, in **February 2024**, we officially reopened with the mindset:

> "Enough is enough. It’s time for a comeback."

The result?\
A **solid player base** and **active community** once again!

### 🔥 The Ignis Update (2025)

At the start of **2025**, I decided to create a **massive content update** called **Ignis**.

While development was underway, we **paused advertising**, which naturally led to a **drop in player count**.\
However, the **update was a huge success**, and we’re now **slowly growing again** with new features, new players, and new adventures ahead!

### 🛡️ Closing Thoughts

Dragon Shield has gone through **ups and downs**, but our **community spirit** has never faded.\
From humble beginnings to major updates, we’ve built something special together, and this is only the beginning.
